WILL THERE BE A MODIFIED GOLF EXPERIENCE AFTER THE U.S. OPEN?
Yes. U.S. Open clean up is in full force: grandstands and hospitality structures are actively being deconstructed throughout the month of July. Guests can expect changes around the main resort clubhouse, based on the schedule below. (Subject to change):
Driving Range and Practice Areas
The Driving Range at Maniac Hill is modified to allow members and guests to hit into a temporary net while U.S. Open construction occurs through May 2025.
While the short game practice area is in the process of reconstruction, Thistle Dhu remains open. From June 29 - July 20, players will be able to use the 18th green of No. 1 for short game warm-up.
Beginning July 21st, a short game practice area will be designated on a portion of the Thistle Dhu putting course. Additionally, guests may utilize the green located next to the 10th tee of course No. 2.
Course Modifications
Pinehurst No. 1 – Modified to a 16-hole course until July 30, 2024 (Holes 1 and 18 closed due to U.S. Open construction).
Pinehurst No. 4 – Due to the infrastructure positioned on No. 4 there will be shortened hole modifications throughout the month of July on holes 1, 9, and 17. Please note that some scarring, though minor, may be visible throughout course No. 4.

Some say it still does. Experience the art of leisure as you explore the timeless Village, with its sandy paths, historic homes and charming shops. While away the day in our Spa, take a croquet lesson, or have a fun contest on our Thistle Dhu putting course. There’s no shortage of ways to relax. SHOULD I TAKE A CART OR CADDIE?
We believe that caddies and forecaddies have the greatest impact on the golf experience. They help you with shot selection, read greens, provide local knowledge and lore, rake bunkers, clean golf balls, and generally make sure your Pinehurst golf experience is one you won’t forget. We highly encourage guests to utilize a caddie on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 as they are cart path only, and on No. 10 as it's walking only. Many golfers enjoy forecaddies on other Pinehurst courses, allowing them to ride in a cart still enjoying the normal caddie services.
Caddie fees are paid upon registration at the golf shop. Rates are as follows:
Double Bag Caddie: $80 per player
Forecaddie: $40 per player
(We recommend a $60 gratuity per bag for walking caddies and $35 per bag for forecaddies.)
In an effort to promote pace of play as well as the safety and health of our caddies, golfers should travel with a single strap carry bag weighing less than 24 pounds. If your bag does not meet these requirements, you may be asked to use a provided change-out bag.
Please keep in mind that carts are restricted to paths on course No. 2 and No. 4. No. 10 is a walking only course. Carts are allowed to ride the fairways of all other courses.
Push carts are available at all courses. Push carts are available on a first come first serve basis at each golf course. -
