Originally designed by Donald Ross in 1910, Pinehurst No. 3 underwent renovations in 2017 to restore the course’s sandscapes and native elements. The shortest of Pinehurst’s nine courses at just 5,155 yards, this par 68 shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s sure to delight golfers of all skill levels.
A round at No. 3 is a great warmup to No. 2 or No. 4 or a fun standalone round. It’s a true test of golf, requiring smart tee shots, accurate irons and strong putting.
Hole 4 Green From Above
Don’t let the accolade of “shortest” fool you into thinking No. 3 is a pushover. While you’ll enjoy limited bunkering and just one water hazard, this course features small, classic Donald Ross turtleback greens and tons of variety with multiple doglegs. That means you’ll need to be extra precise and take a delicate approach to most holes.
Hole 4 Green From Fairway
No. 3 is a par 68, compared to par 72 on No. 2. The combination of shorter holes (nearly 2,500 yards shorter than No. 2) and par 4 and 5s means you’ll have several opportunities for birdies–or maybe even an eagle.

Golf carts and push carts are available at this course and you’ll be able to reserve a caddie (optional) when you book your round. A round on No. 3 takes most players 3-4 hours.
After your round, refuel at The Deuce in the main clubhouse and keep the good times rolling at Thistle Dhu or The Cradle.
